Bi- Monthly Trainings
Bi- Monthly Trainings are held during the bi-monthly meeting and provides opportunities for continuing education and professional development of its members.
Members are given technical, leadership and soft-skills trainings by well seasoned and experienced facilitators.
Career for Secondary Schools:
This is an outreach programme tagged “Catch Them Young”, aimed at making insurance popular among career – seeking secondary school students. The inaugural talk was held at Queen’s College, Lagos on 16th August 1989 with presentations by Mrs C.A Rowaiye and Mrs O.A Oyefeso.
This is currently held once a year for students of Secondary Schools. Plans are in place to extend this.
Bi-Annual International Educational Exchange Programme
The National Seminar for Women in Insurance started in 2002 and was subsequently transformed to an international event. The maiden international edition was held in the Gambia in 2013.
The bi-annual international educational exchange programme provides opportunities for the exchange of knowledge between the members of PILA and their counterparts in other countries.
Members are also afforded the opportunity of meeting dignitaries like the Vice Presidents, the Women Affairs Ministers, the Nigerian High Commissioners, insurance regulators, and also visit insurance and re-insurance companies in countries they visit.
Annual Women In Insurance Conference
This is a high profile seminar aimed at improving the managerial skills of ladies in the profession.
Annual PILA Award for Excellence:
This is a prize awarded the best female candidate in Elements of Insurance and the Overall best female candidate of the Institute’s Professional Examination.
The idea was initiated far back in 1989. The Maiden Awards were given at the Annual Professionals Forum held in August 1999 at the Gateway Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Quarterly Talk Show
The monthly meetings of the Association is organized to accommodate a Quarterly Talk Show. The purpose was to regularly upgrade the knowledge of members. Areas covered were Health Issues, Management, Leadership and Professionalism.
Mentoring Programme for the Youth and Professional Members:
PILA has made good its promise to introduce a Mentoring Scheme. The scheme is designed to provide career guidance to students to encourage them to pursue a career in insurance, and professional ladies to guide them in attaining senior management roles in their organizations and the industry
