MENTOR ELIGIBILTY
Mentor Eligibility Criteria.
Mentors should be knowledgeable of and understand all eligibility criteria required for mentor and mentee participation in the program. Extenuating circumstances may be reviewed at the discretion of the program coordinator when all eligibility requirements are not clearly met.
- Be a financial member of the Professional Ladies Association (PILA) and/or of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN)
- Reside in Nigeria and preferably within the Lagos metropolis
- Be willing to adhere to all Program policies and procedures
- Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
- Commit to spending a minimum of six hours for the 12-week period with the mentee
- Complete the screening procedure
- Agree to attend mentor trainings as required
- Be willing to communicate regularly with the program coordinator and submit monthly meeting and activity information
CRITERIA FOR SELECTING A MENTOR:
- A mentor must be an insurance lady who has achieved significant growth in career or business and has successfully balanced the work/family relationship;
- One who portrays the skills requisite for self-development and is able to pass on the trait to others;
- A mentor must be one who has displayed leadership in such a way as to inspire and challenge others to greater achievement;
- One who is able to communicate with the mentee and teach through verbal and other means the practical insight needed for the mentee’s development;
- One who is willing to invest considerable time and necessary resources in following through with her commitment to mentor an individual;
- One who is able to guide the mentee aright in process of decision making and development both in her career and personal work/life balance;
One who is able to offer a critical and nurturing position in reviewing mentee plans and goals towards improvement in performance and growth.
